SUMMER 2009Praxis II Boot Camps for Special Education: General Curriculum and Elementary Education
June 24-26, 2009 and July 8-9, 2009 (Morrisville, NC)
The Model Teacher Education Consortium, in partnership with the Wake County Public School System’s TEACH-UP Program and NC Wesleyan College, is pleased to announce our second Praxis II Boot Camps for NC teaching license candidates. The Boot Camps will prepare eligible participants for the Praxis II Tests in Special Education: General Curriculum (Tests 10542 and 20511) or Elementary Education (K-6 Tests 10011 and 20012). Participants will attend five days (3 days in June and 2 days in July) of fast-paced, writing intensive in-class instruction.

Instructional Institute for Lateral Entry and Inexperienced Teachers
September 17-18, 2009 (Chapel Hill, NC)
The Model Teacher Education Consortium's third annual Instructional Institute for Lateral Entry and Inexperienced Teachers is scheduled for September 17-18, 2009, at the Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill, NC.
The Instructional Institute will give lateral entry and inexperienced teachers in their first or second year of teaching "on-the-job" tools that will help them be successful in the classroom. This year's Institute features instruction by Dr. Marcia L. Tate, best-selling author / national consultant on brain-compatible learning and Dr. Harry K. Wong, a recognized authority on new teacher induction and classroom organization.
Participation in the Instructional Institute is limited to teachers working in one of our partnering school systems and to any administrator who wishes to attend with their teachers. MTEC will not accept registration requests submitted by individual teachers. Registration information will be posted in mid-June.
