Eligibility Policy for NCMTEC Services
To be eligible for NCMTEC services you must meet the Purpose and Employment criteria described below.
I.PURPOSE
You must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in teacher education or clearing a lateral entry or provisional license in teacher education.
A. In addition to traditional classroom licensure NCMTEC supports:
- Library Science (Media Specialist)
- Instructional Technology
- Technology Education
B. NCMTEC does not support degrees in the following areas:
- School Administration
- Speech
- School Social Work
- School Psychology
- Curriculum and Instruction
- Six-year and doctoral degrees
- School Nursing
II.EMPLOYMENT
The employment criteria may be met in one of three ways.
A. Full-time employee with a partnering school system
- All full time employees are eligible. The most recent pay stub must be submitted to verify employment. Recent employees who have not received a paycheck will need to provide a letter from the Personnel Director verifying employment.
- Full-time employees granted a “Leave of Absence” by a partnering school system who plan to return to that that system must submit a letter from the superintendent stating the dates of the endorsed leave.
B. Part-time employees with a partnering school system
- Substitute teachers are eligible after working 20 days in the semester during or before the semester that services are requested. To verify employment you must submit your most recent pay stub or collection of pay stubs totaling 20 days or 160 hours.
- Other part-time employees (bus drivers, clerical staff, child nutrition staff, custodial staff) are eligible after working 20 days or 160 hours in the semester during or prior to the semester for which services are requested. To verify employment you must submit your most recent pay stub or collection of pay stubs totaling 20 days or 160 hours.
C. Full-time employee with a partnering Institution of Higher Education or Community College
- Full time (salaried with benefits) community college instructors and paraprofessionals are eligible. The most recent pay stub must be submitted as documentation. Recent employees who have not received a paycheck will need to provide a letter from the Academic Dean confirming employment.
- Full-time (salaried with benefits) college or university instructors and paraprofessionals in the school of education are eligible. The most recent pay stub must be submitted as documentation. Recent employees who have not received a paycheck will need to provide a letter from the Chairman of the Department or Dean of the School of Education confirming employment.
